Re: The Orville

discovery looks more like they're trying to put abram's crap into the prime universe, so i'm ambivalent about it, and the less said about the cockroach klingons the better. honestly, i'm more excited (slightly) about the Orville than about discovery. Cockroach Klingons. Haha. Not a terrible way to ...

Re: The Orville

I'm a bit late to this party, but after seeing the Orville trailer and the Discovery trailer I am honestly looking forward to Orville more. I likely won't watch either when they first come out, I'm a binge watcher kind of guy and I plan to pay for CBS All Access for one month and that is it. To me ...

Re: Discovery Trailer

While the new films have a drastically different tone than the old series, I don't feel that should take anything away from how much people enjoyed the old series. You're perfectly allowed to love one series and hate the next. Or call yourself a Trekkie because you like the old stuff, but don't care...

Re: The Orville

I don't think you're a bad Trekkie at all! The preview to the Orville looked amazing to me! Very much in keeping with the vibe of Galaxy Quest. I'm impressed by the makeup, costumes and everything for a TV series. Looked more like a movie preview! As far as Star Trek Discovery - that actually has me...

Re: Deep Space 9

I can't speak for DS9 being overrated given my Star Trek experience is relatively limited, but I can say that it was the first series that got me hooked. As you might assume, given my username, i'm a huge fan of the Ferengi in DS9. I loved Quark as a character and appreciate when Trek gives us any k...

Deep Space 9

HUZZAH! I DID IT! While it took me far too long, I finally completed my very first complete Star Trek viewing of Deep Space 9. It was the first of the series to really appeal to me and I cried like a baby for that final episode. I thought it might be fun to prompt discussion on the series if anybody...

Though, in all honesty, isn't someone's interests aligning with yours a possible connection? Like, hey! We're both in WA!

Re: Favorite sci-fi settings?

FarScape and Firefly for me. Farscape and Babylon 5 are two of my non- Trek favorites. I only recently watched the entirety of Farscape a year or two ago. I absolutely adooorrreeed it. I'm a big fan of Jim Henson in general. I was recently recommended to check out Babylon 5, but haven't yet. It's o...

Re: Join the USS Aurora!

It's been ages since I last Simmed and think about it every so often, but have a hard enough time doing my own fanfic. I will say it's nice to see a Captain who isn't 21 and a science ship without dedicated diplomatic and intelligence departments or squad of marines onboard. I wish your friend luck...

Favorite sci-fi settings?

We all know that we love Star Trek, but what other favorites within the Sci-fi genre do people have? I only recently completed the Mass Effect series (and playing through Andromeda currently) and fell in *love* with their world and the various alien species. We're also wrapping up Battlestar Galacti...

Re: Trailer:Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

I LOVED that movie! I feel blasphemous saying this, but... I may have liked it better than some of the originals. Newt was a wonderful character and the various beasts were wonderfully done.

Join the USS Aurora!

Find a new star and name it after yourself! Starfleet's mission has always been first and foremost exploration. Seeking out new life and new civilizations is the dream of so many young officers. Well, the Aurora is doing just that! Do you want to serve on a small, workhorse ship? Do you want to disc...
