Re: Asked for my brief critique of Discovery

TINA covers it well. I admit to being a cranky curmudgeon whose warp core doesn't extend all the way to the top, but I stopped watching the new movies after the first one and will not pay to see the new series. Your mileage may very.

Re: 6 Horrifying Facts About TNG Uniforms

I can hear the sizzling plasma coming my way for this, but I think the only uniforms worn in any version of Star Trek that were in any way practical for everyday duty were the flight suits worn in Enterprise . That having been said, I do like the "maroons" of the TWOK era and the two-piece style wor...

Yes, and from my aged perspective, one of the few good things about the movie.

Re: Trailer - STAR WARS Episode VII - The Force Awakens

I found myself indifferent to TFA, unlike my visceral dislike of Nu...(whatever). I'll be seeing it again tonight, more as a means of keeping a friend company after a bad week for him, but we'll see if it ages well.

Re: The Great Horror Movies

I am fond of a rather tame, but atmospheric, movie from 1944, "The Uninvited."

Re: Re-cast the reboot

I'm all for rebooting the reboot, but then I'm old and cranky. As for recasting, I don't have a clue.

Just remember what Montgomery Scott said - "You canna change the laws of physics, unless the screenwriters say so."

Re: Star Trek Steaming.

I hope the include the remastered TOS as an option. The new effects in some of them are not too bad. And I'd love to cherry pick my favorite episodes out of the vast pile of Trekness and watch them.

Re: TOS in DS9 uniforms

This is the first time I've seen them. It makes me wish for a real reboot of TOS with the original cast and the new look. Oh well, we can't have everything, can we?

Re: Federation & Klingon "war"?

Either interpretation has validity. I find myself constantly confused trying to fill holes in a canon that is often contradictory.

Re: Federation & Klingon "war"?

I don't opt for the Four Years War scenario myself. The "seventy years of unremitting hostility" alluded to in Star Trek VI, taking the form of a cold war with isolated incidents of direct small scale or single ship actions between the two powers would suffice to explain the emergence of a prodigy l...

Re: What do you Like about Star Trek Gaming?

To me, it's always been about being a part of the Star Trek universe, even if a small and decidedly non-canonical part. I've been involved into two distinct campaigns and both are very fond memories. One was played largely in the 1980s using the FASA system, suitably tweaked to represent the 2282-22...
