Come on ... no comment on It's Not About the Nail?

You know you want to.

I was doing my best to ignore that piece of video neanderthalism, but since you insist...

"It's Not About the Nail" is a lame piece of dispshit misogyny masquerading as humor.

While I'm not one for the validity of argumentum ad populum, I find it interesting that this video went viral a couple of years ago, and seems to be popular with both men and women. It inspired quite a bit of insightful commentary on interpersonal relationships, so ... I'd say it served a purpose.

Of course, we all have our own baggage we bring to any conversation, whether we find the subject matter offensive or profoundly amusing. I consider myself neither pure Neanderthal nor unrepentant misogynist, and I find the video quite funny, for both the obvious reasons and subtler ones, as well (and there are subtler ones). On deeper reflection, it's not just about the woman's apparent issue, here, but the man's, as well: The Problem Solver who thinks he can fix everyone because only he has the insight. Isn't it obvious what her issue is? he thinks. She just has to yank it out!

Is it ever that simple? Perhaps, but ... not as often as that type, a type extremely common among men, would like to think.

That's the risk of outrageous humor, of course: It either touches someone's funny bone, or offends near to their core. (I still think Sam Kinison is beyond hilarious, and his misogynistic streak isn't exactly repressed, if you've ever seen him perform. Yet he did have insight into the human condition.)

So ... opinion noted, but I'll politely disagree.

Now where did I put my club ... ?

I get the impression that Patrick had lost a bet.

This is my personal theme song because I'm a Starfleet pirate.

And a Jedi.

And a Captain.

And a Time Lord.

And a Green Lantern.

And a Mutant.

:hrs:
"All of Time and Space; everywhere and anywhere; every star that ever was. Where do you want to start?"

"Geronimo!"

Thanks to FltCpt. Bossco for my Tattok avatar. This is Tattok when he assumed the position of Commander-in-Chief, Starfleet in the year 2411.
