Whether we like it or not, Hinman makes valid points.

It's a case that all of us who intend to create photomanipulations, fan fiction, or other derivative works based on Star Trek should follow.

unfortunately, there's really no way to argue against it.

my first point i made last week stands though, while many individual productions were excellent works, they couldn't hold a candle to Axanar. Even nutrek can't.

It seems the lawsuit may be going away. And this is from someone many Trek fans might have never suspected... J.J. Abrams:

http://io9.gizmodo.com/paramounts-lawsuit-against-axanar-productions-star-trek-1777959978

Quoting the article, Abrams said at a fan event:
“A few months back there was a fan film, Axanar, that was getting made and there was this lawsuit that happened between the studio and these fans and Justin, I’ll tell the story because he probably wouldn’t, was sort of outraged by this as a long time fan. We started talking about it and realized this was not an appropriate way to deal with the fans.

The fans should be celebrating this thing. Fans of Star Trek are part of this world. So he went to the studio and pushed them to stop this lawsuit and now, within the next few weeks, it will be announced this is going away, and that fans would be able to continue working on their project.”

And a video of Abrams comments:

i really hope its actually allowed to proceed but last thing i heard was that it was a "haha, JJ was just joking (and/or he doesn't actually know anything, he was just talking out of his ass), we fooled you!" kinda thing.

I guess Paramount, CBS, and Anaxar settled... ):(

too little too late

Enjoyed prelude to axanar and expected good things from the movie, but that went south quick with the court case.
with the limits now imposed and the restriction, bad publicity and troubles I am not expecting much now if anything
