Ok, so what if the start of the "Kelvin Timeline" was not created when Nero went back, but when the Borg Sphere did? Meaning that ENT was not part of the "Prime Timeline" but instead the "Kelvin Timeline." It would explain why ENT doesn't work in context to TOS and other shows.

Maybe?

I'd be happy to lock ENT and NuTrek in their own separate universe that has no impact on the Prime Timeline--where I'd assume Archer, due to his gross incompetence, never became more than a steward.

I'd find it interesting were you to list Archer's incidents of "gross incompetence", Bry. As an inveterate Janeway hater, I'm curious as to whether your dislike is as wholly justified as mine.

I like your theory but then wouldn't that nullify the last two TNG movies?

I figure the Enterprise returned to it's own timeline, hence why the technology didn't change. I think in First contact we saw three timelines; one where the borg took over Earth, one where things were as they should be, and one with the start of the new one. I feel like the new one includes ENT, 2009, and STD...

The Borg sphere never actually went back in time because everything that happened after Picard went into the Nexus in Generations is just Picard's fantasy within the Nexus. The shadow of Guinan told him that no one could leave voluntarily, so he spun himself a fantasy scenario where he could voluntarily leave the Nexus, save the universe, and show up that pesky legend James T. Kirk. Then he (otherwise) inexplicably becomes an action hero at the age of about 67, takes revenge on the Borg, is indirectly responsible for mankind's first warp flight, morally outshines the rest of Starfleet, hooks up with a chick who is apparently half his age but is really much older so he's doesn't have to feel like a dirty old man, and eventually literally overcomes his younger self.

A great clue is the fact that we "met" Zephram Cochrane in the episode "Metamorphosis," but Picard, of course, didn't see that episode, so he imagines Cochrane all wrong both in terms of looks and personality. Nexus Fantasy Cochrane appears in Enterprise, as does the Borg sphere, so that series clearly takes place in Picard's Nexus fanatasy, too. Then unsatisfied with having dropped a bridge on Kirk, Picard reimagines Kirk's whole life in the JJ Trek movies. We will have to see exactly how Discovery fits in to this fever dream.
