Clicking the link took me to a vid on the nature and role of the Intrepid-Class, which then sparked the idea: what if Voyager had been an Oberth-Class (or some version of it)? A smaller, older ship with a more dedicated role as a surveyor/science ship.

I then found the Oberth vid you were probably referring too and had a chuckle, realising that that probably would be the outcome--especially seeing how often they got into space battles, but with the reset button at the end of each episode then it would've been fine for the next thrilling installment.
