You are free to offer your opinions on a show, episode, book, film, film series, cinematic universe, etc., as long as it applies to that item, and not to the stated or assumed political views of the producers, writers, actors, key grip, best boy, intern, etc., of said item. In short, you want to talk about a show or movie, talk about the show or movie.
Others are free to disagree with your opinion. (You are not entitled to express your opinion in a vacuum.) BUT that opposing opinion must follow the same requirements above that the original opinion had to follow, as well as not bringing in the assumed political views of the original poster. (I leave out "stated" as they should not state any political position here on STPMA.)
ALSO, do not toss about derogatory labels at someone who offers an opinion in opposition to yours. No name calling, political labels (SJW, etc.,) questioning their humanity, morality, ethics, true fan status, or your assumption they are in the business to protect a certain fandom (gatekeeping, etc.). Again, discuss the show or movie not the politics or motives of another poster.
If you dislike something, it's perfectly fine to say so. However, posting your dislike every time someone else says anything positive about a show or movie, essentially stating the same thing over and over again is not acceptable. If you have something new to add, or are replying to a specific point in someone else's comment, okay. But if it's just to state once again, "IT SUCKS!" Don't.

I don't think they've declared the original animated series canon yet.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks
Only elements of "Yesteryear" are considered canon, insofar as I know.
And the vastly inferior Star Trek: Discovery may have overturned that.
The second episode is less cute than the first. It's already losing its luster.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks
Canon is dead.
But yeah. I've seen it. If Picard is too dark and brutal to be Star Trek, Lower Decks is too stupid. These characters make the whole of Starfleet look bad. I can't stand any of them. Honestly with this I think I am mostly over Star Trek. It used to be fun, but I find it hard to even watch classic Trek without the new shows invading my mind.
Put simply, this 3rd era of Trek sucks.

I have to be honest.
The show is growing on me. I enjoy it far more than I did Picard or Discovery.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks
So far I am loving this show. I didn't think I would, because I was not a fan of Rick and Morty, but this has been scratching an itch I did not know I had.

It feels more like Final Space to me... but that's just me.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks
I did confirm, by the way: Star Trek: Lower Decks is canon.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks
the abrams movies are utter pish
Picard started well and fell off a cliff
discovery is completely dominated by the awful Burnham
And as for the cartoon that seems like its aimed at people with a short attention spam, it is woeful.
The Orville is better than the lot of them.

I haven't actually seen any of Lower Decks yet, still this is funny.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks
And yet here I am, with an attention span marginally superior to that of a gnat, daring to think that it's far from woeful.
It's without question more entertaining than Picard or Discovery, in my opinion. Such may be a low bar, but Lower Decks clears it with ease.
Note that there are three errors in your above quote. Perhaps your attention span would be better suited to correcting your comments before you post them.

That's a good rule of thumb regardless of the topic being discussed.

You made the mistake of thinking I care what you think.

You are making a post on a forum thread to put your words out into the world so they can be reviewed by others and reflected upon.
Either you care what other people think or you think your thoughts are important enough that there needs to be a public record.

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks
Honestly, I just can't get into it. I just don't give a crap about the story. Maybe it's just me. It's just not what I'm looking for from a Star Trek show. Glad others can enjoy it. I'll just stay hyped for more Orville.
