You are free to offer your opinions on a show, episode, book, film, film series, cinematic universe, etc., as long as it applies to that item, and not to the stated or assumed political views of the producers, writers, actors, key grip, best boy, intern, etc., of said item. In short, you want to talk about a show or movie, talk about the show or movie.
Others are free to disagree with your opinion. (You are not entitled to express your opinion in a vacuum.) BUT that opposing opinion must follow the same requirements above that the original opinion had to follow, as well as not bringing in the assumed political views of the original poster. (I leave out "stated" as they should not state any political position here on STPMA.)
ALSO, do not toss about derogatory labels at someone who offers an opinion in opposition to yours. No name calling, political labels (SJW, etc.,) questioning their humanity, morality, ethics, true fan status, or your assumption they are in the business to protect a certain fandom (gatekeeping, etc.). Again, discuss the show or movie not the politics or motives of another poster.
If you dislike something, it's perfectly fine to say so. However, posting your dislike every time someone else says anything positive about a show or movie, essentially stating the same thing over and over again is not acceptable. If you have something new to add, or are replying to a specific point in someone else's comment, okay. But if it's just to state once again, "IT SUCKS!" Don't.

The Expanse
Finally got caught up with Season 2 on Netflix and have to say that I love this show.
There is some great story telling going on here, with some compelling characters, whilst the setting is a little more 'hard science' than I'm used too (or at least hard for a TV show) it helps ground it in a sense of reality.
Anyone else liking this show?

Re: The Expanse
I may have to try this one. I haven't picked up a new show on netflix yet.
I don't know half you half as well as I'd like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Any show that provides surprises, and stays fresh, is usually well done.
This show is well done.

Other than star trek, the orville is the only science fiction show I have watched since a kid and watching original battlestar galactics, time tunnel.
Heard some good things about this, might give this a look

Re: The Expanse
I have really Enjoyed the expanse. If you can, be sure to watch the Amazon Prime cut instead of just the syfy one.
Season 5 is supposed to drop sometime this fall I believe.
I am also waiting on Book 9 to be released and that should finish the series, in book form.

Re: The Expanse
The biggest difference is the Language. The sci-fi one has to meet "broadcast" standards for language, but the streaming on Amazon they are much freer with it. And the swearing is actually one of the defining traits for one character, so losing it takes something away.

Re: The Expanse
I love the series. I've read the books and the series on Amazon. In fact, I just got a model of the Rocinante from Amazon in the mail, last night. It's little and dinky but I like it.

My avatar is Captain Weynik, commander of the Defiant-class starship USS Ajax, which is part of the USS Surefoot universe.

Re: The Expanse
Ok.. I want a Rocinante Model. Though I wonder if there is a decent sized one. I haven't really shopped around for it.
I am liking season 5 so far. I am still waiting on the release of the 9th book.
I will probably go back and re-read at some point, but will wait till after the current season finishes before I do.
